What to Expect
Transfer to Ijen Volcano
- Direct Hotel or Villa Pickup: We provide convenient pickup and drop-off services directly at your accommodation (Hotel or Villa) throughout Bali. Please be ready in your lobby by 06:45 PM for a prompt 07:00 PM departure.
- Flexible Meeting Points: Your convenience is our priority. We can arrange custom pickup and drop-off locations by request, provided you inform us well in advance so we can coordinate the logistics for your journey.
The Journey
- Travel to Gilimanuk: We depart for Gilimanuk Harbor in Northwest Bali. The drive takes approximately 3-4 hours depending on traffic. We will stop at a local café along the way where you can rest or grab a snack (at your own expense).
- Crossing to Java: Enjoy a scenic one-hour ferry ride across the strait to Java Island, followed by a one-hour drive from Banyuwangi Harbor to the Ijen base camp.
Trekking Ijen Volcano
- The Ascent: The trek begins at 02:00 AM. Your English-speaking guide will provide you with the necessary equipment, including gas masks and flashlights.
- Blue Flames & Sunrise: If the weather is clear, you will have the chance to see the natural blue flame phenomenon.
Safety Note: The descent to the crater lake is currently closed due to increased seismic activity and safety risks. We strongly advise staying at the summit rim for your safety.
- Sulfur Miners & Views: Observe the local miners carrying heavy sulfur baskets from the crater. After witnessing a breathtaking sunrise from the summit, we will head back down to the base.
Return Transfer
- Departure: We return to the parking area around 08:00 AM. We will stop for breakfast (additional cost) before heading back to the harbor.
- Back to Bali: We expect to arrive back on Bali island around 01:00 PM.
- Drop-off: You will be driven directly back to your Hotel, Villa, or your pre-arranged location. Depending on your location, expect to arrive between 06:00 PM and 07:00 PM.
Important Information
- Medical Check: Per new regulations, all visitors must have their blood pressure checked and obtain a medical certificate. We will make a brief stop at a hospital/clinic on the way to the volcano to complete this quick requirement.
- Restricted Zones: For your safety, access is limited to 500 meters from the sulfur source, marked by red flags.
- Equipment Care: Please return your gas mask and flashlight after the climb. A fine of Idr 50.000 per item applies for any lost or unreturned gear.
- Health Advisory: This trek is physically demanding and is not recommended for pregnant women or individuals with heart or respiratory conditions.
